Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute is a non-profit educational institution that relies on financial support from government bodies and individual donors.

Student Scholarships

The students of the institute come from different economical and social background. Many of them need financial support for tuition, boarding and lodging, costing about thirty-five thousand rupees per year per student. Any donation in this regard will go to the corresponding endowment fund of the institute which provides scholarships to the students. A donor can also provide a student scholarship in the memory of any person. In such cases the scholarship will be named after that person.

Faculty Sponsorships and Chairs

The faculty of the institute needs salaries and contingency support to discharge their research and teaching responsibilities. The young faculties require around one lakh rupees per month as a salary, and one lakh rupees per year as contingency. Senior faculties require around two lakh rupees per month as a salary, and two lakh rupees per year as contingency. If a senior faculty receives pension from his/her previous employment, then the salary requirement for the senior faculty reduces to one lakh rupees per month. A donor can also provide this support in the memory of any person. In such cases their will be a chair named after that person in any school/department/subject of donor’s choice.

Support to Monastic Faculties and Members’

Monks of Ramakrishna Mission are assigned the responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. Because of their monastic vows, the monks are not entitled to receive any salary or honorarium for their service to the institute. However, financial support is needed to provide food, clothing, medical, travel and other general expenses. Any donation in this regard will be considered as Sadhu Seva.

General Fund

The institute need regular money for salaries of non-teaching staff, various educational and religious programmes, and other running expences.

Community Service Activities of the Institute

The institute is active in doing community service outside the institute campuses and in rural India. These activities include Vivekdisha project, Yoga project, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, centre for disabled children.

The institute needs regular donations for library, laboratories, construction of new buildings/facilities, maintenance, etc.

How to Donate

Donations in Indian currency (INR) can be made by cash, by cheque or by demand draft. Cheques and drafts may be drawn in favour of RAMAKRISHNA MISSION VIVEKANANDA EDUCATIONAL & RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Belur Math.
Donors giving donations exceeding Rs.10000 must provide their PAN card number.

Cheques in any foreign currency should be drawn in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (FC), Belur Math.

Tax Exemptions

The Government of India has granted 100% income tax exemption to the institute under section 80G, subsection 2(a) (iii f) of the income tax act, 1961, by an order issued by the department of revenue, ministry of finance. This is a provision applicable to universities and academic institutions of national eminence.

All the donations to the institute will therefore be eligible for 100% exemption from income tax.
